THINGS TO DO IN OXFORDSHIRE
We are extremely lucky to be perched on the edge of the picturesque Cotswolds, with a wealth of views and plenty to do during your stay with us. You may wish to take a walk around the wonderful countryside, or take a tour of the historical Blenheim Palace. Here are a few things we recommend;
Blenheim Palace- On the door step of Woodstock Manor and approximately 5 miles away from our Worton site and 3 miles from Thrupp. This grand palace is the birth place of Sir Winston Churchill and has gardens designed by Capability Brown. www.blenheimpalace.com
Cotswold Wildlife Park and Gardens- Just over 16 miles away from Worton and approximately 20 miles from Thrupp. This really is the ultimate family day out with animals galore and plenty of walks around the gardens. Top tip- it is cheaper to buy e-tickets before you go! www.cotswoldwildlifepark.co.uk
Annie's Tea Rooms- A delightful tea room on the canal, serving hot and cold food and beverages in Thrupp a short walk from Manor House, Couch House and Dovecote. www.anniestearoom.co.uk
Shopping- We have some amazing shopping destinations locally including Bicester Village (go on the train from Oxford Parkway Station), Oxford City centre, Cheltenham and Swindon Designer Outlet.
Oxford day out- Home of Inspector Morse and steeped in history with various Collages and Museums, it really isn't just for shopping. Just 6.5 miles from Worton and 8.5 miles from Thrupp. We recommend the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford University Museum of Natural History (please look out for our resident Dinosaur), Bodleian Library, University of Oxford Botanic Garden and Oxford University Parks.
Not far from us also is Henley on Thames, famous for its Regatta www.hrr.co.uk. Silverstone race track www.silverstone.co.uk. Also the real Downton Abbey www.highclerecastle.co.uk, with Bampton where filming took place 13 miles away!
