The Cafe

Worton Kitchen Garden, is a seven-acre market garden providing the local community with an astonishing diversity of seasonal fresh vegetables, herbs, fruit, eggs and flowers. The Farm Shop and Restaurant are open all year round Wednesday - Sunday.

Back in 2005, Worton Farms looked for someone to grow the existing two-acre market garden (one ploughed field with two polytunnels) which has now been developed over time and nurtured into a hive of activity. The infrastructure gradually evolved as did the cultivation area, which extended to seven acres; four of which produce field crops and fruit, the rest for intensive and protected cropping. Now run solely by Simon, the team has grown to include both part and full time staff as well as volunteers (they are always open to taking on more volunteers, so get in touch if you’re interested!).

There is a high standard for all the vegetables, herbs, fruit, flowers and eggs. According to good organic practice, soil fertility is maintained by means of green manure, compost and liberal amounts of weathered straw. A variety of hens, bantams and guinea fowl are free to range and roost in the wooded borders of the fields, and their droppings provide rich nutrition for the soil.

The Cafe is located next to the shop allowing you to try the delicious organic produce in idyllic surroundings.
